West Brom coach admits team may need to strengthen

EDDIE Newton has conceded that West Brom's squad may need strengthening with some more experienced players.

The Baggies assistant boss feels that the team, while rich in general ability, lacks know-how.

That was underlined up front where 17-year-old Chris Wood was partnering an out-of-sorts Luke Moore due to Roman Bednar's back problem and Ishmael Miller's long term absence.

Simon Cox eventually came on but, he too, is relatively inexperienced.

Newton said: “We’re always looking.

“We’re not saying that’s the squad and that’s it.

“We’re looking for January and we just have to make sure we bring in the right personnel and don’t panic.

“There’s no point in getting someone who isn’t exactly the player we need.

“It’s no good for them and it’s no good for us.

“We’ve targeted areas and we’re working on it."
