Alan Gow is fit to roar for Wolverhampton Wanderers
opportunities limited at Ibrox, is delighted to link up with the Championship leaders, according to agent Phil McTaggart.
“Alan has been impressed by the ambition of Wolves and is hoping to help them in their bid to win promotion to the Premier League,” he said.
McCarthy only confirmed his interest in Gow this week after Rangers boss Walter Smith made it publicly known that a deal had been done and McCarthy has vowed has return to his policy of silence until deals have been done.
The Wolves boss also warned he would take a dim view of other clubs talking about his players.
“I can’t do anything about us being linked with players,” he said.
“People know I’ll give them the poker face – I won’t talk about it because it’s tantamount to tapping people up if I start mentioning targets.
“If Walter Smith says we’ve gone in for Gow then that’s fine, because that’s his player. I’ve confirmed that’s true, but not other players. I just don’t do it because I don’t think it’s fair. People know what I’d think if they were doing it about my players – especially if it’s someone you don’t want to lose as well.
“It’s different if it’s someone on the list and someone has come in for them, then fine, let’s get down to business and do it.
‘‘But if someone says we want Kightly or Sylvan or Stearman or Hennessey and I say I haven’t heard a thing, I won’t get involved in that nonsense.”
