Stoke Res 1 Wolves Res 2

WOLVES reserves wound up their season on a high with goals from Denes Rosa and Sam Winnall giving them victory at the Britannia Stadium.

Marc Grocott missed an early chance for the Potters when he fired wide when clean through in the ninth minute.

Home keeper Steve Ryan had to run back and save after his attempted clearance hit team-mate Rodney McDonald and bounced towards the City net for what would have been a bizarre own goal.

But there was a touch of class from Hungarian midfielder Rosa three minutes after the break when he hit a shot from 35 yards that flew past Ryan into the top corner.

Wolves looked to be in control but Grocott atoned for his earlier miss when he headed Stoke level in the 65th minute.

Sam Winnall had the last word, though, when he grabbed the winner with a minute remaining. The young striker turned the ball over the line after Mark Salmon had run through the centre before finding Winnall who couldn't miss.

WOLVES: Lumley, D Davis, Bailey, Salmon, Malone, Tulloch, Melbourne, Rosa, Hemmings (J Davis, 78), Winnall, K Bennett. Not used: Kasiama, Woolley, Guerin-Lokonga.
