Seyi Olofinjana calls on Wolves fans to keep the faith

SEYI Olofinjana today called for Wolves players and fans to once again unite and help the club return to winning ways against Burnley on Saturday.

Tuesday's dismal performance against Barnsley was followed by a strong reaction from Wolves' travelling fans as the team left the pitch, understood to have surprised both boss Mick McCarthy and the players bearing in mind it was only a second defeat in 14 games.

And Olofinjana is now hoping the strong bond which has underpinned the Molineux improvements in McCarthy's 18-month reign will return at the weekend.

"I just hope we can get the backing from the fans," he said. "Obviously they were very disappointed at the end on Tuesday but there are so many games in this league and we can't always play well so we need their support.

"It's been such a part of our success that everyone, players, manager and fans, have all been together."

Olofinjana meanwhile is bracing himself for a battle to keep his place in the team after admitting he fell way below his desired standards at Oakwell.

"Everyone on the first team staff is always in with a chance of playing," he said. "When you talk about changes I'm one of the regular players and I didn't play well on Tuesday so who's to say what will happen.

"It was just one of those days and we have to try and move on."
