Wolves happy to get back in the fast lane

WOLVES have revved up to try to get their deteriorating season back on track with a spot of go-karting to boost team spirit.

The players and staff - including boss Mick McCarthy - spent what would have been a free afternoon yesterday battling it out at Cannon Raceway in Coseley, a competitive session which it is hoped will help lift morale after a run of form which has really been the pits.

"A bit of team-bonding and going out and having a bit of go-karting is great for team spirit," said McCarthy.

"The lads were organising it and I got wind of it and decided to make it a club 'do' so we could all have a bit of it.

"You don't suddenly stop doing things like go-karting or things that you might want to do because of results. It's probably the right time to go and do something like this that we'll all enjoy, a bit of light relief.

"Because let me tell you, we can't work any harder and on Saturday we couldn't work any harder than we did.

"We've done the daily grind if you like, the lads trained hard, and then it was a chance to go off and do something different, and enjoy each other's company.

"It's a break from the norm which everybody enjoyed.

"Companies do it - if it was ICI doing it everyone would be saying it's a great bonding exercise."

Ultimately, it was defender Kevin Foley who took the decisive chequered flag, with strikers Freddy Eastwood and Andy Keogh completing the podium.
