Karl Henry: Wolves were awful

“A shambles” – that was Wolves midfielder Karl Henry’s brutal assessment of the dismal FA Cup exit to Cardiff.

And Henry admitted it was a “missed opportunity” given the way the competition has opened up this season.

“We just started terribly and before we got going we were 2-0 down,” he said.

“That left us facing an uphill battle and we were second best all over the park.

“I don’t think you can blame the changes we made.

“We’ve changed the team before and done well and had worked hard in training, we knew what we were doing.

“There was a real chance to progress in the competition and we wanted to get further so it’s massively disappointing.

“It was a shambles, we were a shambles as a team and have got to take responsibility for that.

“There’s no point dwelling on it but we know we can’t go out and play like that, we’d get beaten every week.”

And Henry admitted the players could have no complaints with the criticism from the travelling fans.

“The way we’ve lost the game we can understand why the supporters are disappointed,” he added.

“We heard them saying we’re not fit to wear the shirt and that hurts,” he added.

“We all want to play for this club and we all want to get promoted and to do that we know we’ve all got to do better and show more quality.

“I don’t think it’s about desire because we all show desire and we all want to wear the shirt.

“It’s not just the determination, it’s the mental side of things as well.

“In a way it’s good we’ve got a game so quickly against Scunthorpe tomorrow.

“It’s not going to put things right but we’re still in there in the league with something to fight for.

“We’re not far off it and just need to make sure we start picking up points and fast.”
