Karl Henry: Maradona video inspired Sylvan Ebanks-Blake

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake scores against Charlton Athletic

WOLVES skipper Karl Henry has admitted that the squad may have to start calling Sylvan Ebanks-Blake the 'black Maradona' after his wonder strike against Charlton on Saturday.

The prolific striker stunned The Valley with a brilliant individual goal in the 80th minute, when he backheeled his way past Charlton defender Paddy McCarthy and lashed in a sensational goal.

And Henry admitted afterwards that the forward may have been influenced by a video of Diego Maradona the squad watched on the team coach on their way down to London.

"Michael Gray had a DVD of Maradona, because he likens himself to him, so we decided to stick it on during the coach trip," Henry said.

"Sylvan obviously put that video straight into practice because it was a brilliant goal. He's been a great signing.

"Goals are like gold-dust in this division and he has been the difference for us in quite a few games this year. We may have to start calling him the black Maradona now!"

Henry played down any comparisons between his goal and that of the Argentine legend, but said he was ecstatic to score the winner.

"I didn't see Maradona scoring any ugly goals, sliding in at the far post," Henry said. "But every goal is special and I don't get too many so it was great."
