Sylvan Ebanks-Blake confident Wolves can cope with the pressure

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake

SYLVAN Ebanks-Blake is confident Wolves possess the necessary "fighting spirit" to come to the boil at just the right time in the Championship's promotion race.

Saturday's win at Charlton took them to 17 points from the last eight games, impressive form as the season reaches crunch point.

And top scorer Ebanks-Blake believes they have it in their make-up to rise above the intense pressure and make a concerted push for promotion.

Much of Wolves' improvement over the second half of the season stemmed from his January arrival from Plymouth, but the striker is keen to play down his own involvement.

"I can't take the credit for our recent form," said Ebanks-Blake.

"The gaffer brought me in to try and continue what I was doing down at Plymouth - score goals - and I think I've done that.

"But as a whole team we have been growing in confidence.

"We've come through some difficult times with injuries and the team changing a lot but we've adapted and it's been a massive team effort from all of us. We all know where we want to be next season and are pulling together at the right time and hopefully coming good.

"Hopefully we've picked up at just the right time."

As ever the final weeks of the season will provide a stern test of the mental strength of all those involved.

But Ebanks-Blake believes Wolves' last home game - when they came from behind three times to draw with QPR - stands them in good stead on that score.

"We showed a fighting spirit against QPR which is what you need at this stage of the season because to come back from going behind three times shows good character,'' he said.

"Not a lot of teams will be able to show that during the run-in and there will be a lot of nerves.

"I think we've come to the boil at the right time and hopefully we can push on and pick up the points we need to get there.''
