Michael Kightly and Stephen Ward to make injury comebacks tonight

MICHAEL Kightly and Stephen Ward will make their comebacks from injury as Wolves’ reserves travel to Oldham tonight.

Kightly, who has suffered several ups-and-downs on the road to recovery from keyhole ankle surgery, has made just two appearances as substitute since first picking up the injury at Albion in November.

While Ward, pretty much a regular on the left wing over the first half of the season, hasn’t featured since mid-January thanks to a tear in his knee tendon.

Both are likely to start tonight’s second string encounter at Boundary Park, and will have designs on building up their match fitness to sufficient levels to feature at some stage of Wolves’ play-off push with six Championship games remaining.

“It’s been a really frustrating time having to watch when you want to be out playing or training,” said Ward.

“Now I’m feeling fit and sharp and hopefully I can take that into the game at Oldham and be ready to help with the run-in although both Michael and I have got to get our match fitness back.

“People don’t need me to tell them just how important these six games are and it’s vital that the gaffer has everyone available for what is going to be a really testing time - for players and supporters alike.”
