Hands off our talent, warns Wolves chairman Steve Morgan

Steve Morgan

WOLVES chairman Steve Morgan has sent out a clear message of intent about his plans for next season by insisting: “Our best young players are not for sale.”

Premiership vultures are circling around the likes of Wayne Hennessey, Michael Kightly and Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and hoping to pick them off if Wolves’ play-off bid ends in failure.

But Morgan insists he’s in the business of strengthening the squad and not weakening it, which also backs up the thought that Mick McCarthy will be given another shot at promotion if Wolves remain in the Championship.

“I am aware that some Premiership clubs have been watching our players,” said Morgan.

“It’s inevitable that when you’ve got an exciting young squad, they’ll be linked with other clubs.

“However, I want to set our fans’ minds at rest and send out a message in the strongest possible terms to other clubs - our best young players are not for sale.

“They are happy here at Wolves and we are building something very special for the future. End of story.

“We are an ambitious club with strong finances and most certainly we will be strengthening the squad during the summer.

“We have a young team that we believe has very exciting times ahead of it. We won’t allow anything to disrupt that progress.”
