Elokobi support for injured Timar

George Elokobi

WOLVES defender George Elokobi has sent his good wishes to Plymouth's Krisztian Timar as the Hungarian prepares for surgery to repair multiple fractures to his skull.

Elokobi and Timar were involved in a sickening but accidential aerial collision during the closing stages of Sunday's final game of the season, with the Plymouth Player of the Year stretchered off and kept in hospital overnight.

Elokobi has spoken to Timar by phone and plans to keep in touch with the defender, who may be unable to head a ball for five months after the operation.

"I took his number from one of the Plymouth coaching staff," said Elokobi.

"I didn't ring him immediately but sent him a text message saying how unfortunate an accident it was and that I was sorry what had happened to him.

"I wouldn't wish that on any footballer and hopefully he will recover quickly.

"I then rang him and spoke to him on Monday.

"All he could remember was heading the back of my head and I knew that because I had a bump on the back of my head.

"I thought he was okay at first, which is why I ran straight back to my position.

"I didn't know the extent of it until the stretcher came on and I went back and saw the blood.

"I'll be speaking to him again and hope he recovers quickly.

"I'm not one that goes in with my elbow when I'm heading the ball, I always go with my head and I wasn't even watching him, I was just going for the ball.

"I think he was happy that I called, I will keep in touch and call him from time to time to see how he's getting on," he said.
