Wolves announce pre-season friendlies

WOLVES today revealed their pre-season preparations will take them for a three-game tour whilst their high-profile home friendly will see Blackburn visit Molineux.

Mark Hughes’s side will be the visitors on Saturday August 2, a week before the new Championship season kicks off.

Prior to that match the first team have a programme of six away fixtures which includes the games in Scotland - Dundee (July 20), Motherwell (July 23) and Kilmarnock (July 26).

“The trip to Scotland will provide us with competitive games,” said boss Mick McCarthy.

“It’s friendlies in inverted commas up in Scotland.

“It means we don’t have to travel too far and we have excellent training facilities arranged.

“We know what we are going to get from games like these.

“They will all want to beat us and the style of play will be similar to what we will face week-in-week-out in the Championship.

“And I’m delighted Mark has agreed to bring Blackburn to Molineux.

“They finished seventh in the Premier League and be excellent opposition to wrap our pre-season programme up.”

The players report back for training on June 30 and the away friendlies comprise Wrexham (July 12), Hereford (July 16) and Walsall (July 29).
