Wolves sign Dave Jones from Derby County

Dave Jones

WOLVES have finally completed the signing of midfielder David Jones from Championship rivals Derby in a £1million deal.

The 23-year-old has long been linked with a move to Molineux and boss Mick McCarthy sees him as an integral part of the club’s challenge for promotion to the Premier League.

The left-sided midfielder, who has penned a three-year deal, came through the ranks at Manchester United before loan spells at Preston, NEC Nijmegen and Derby raised his already impressive profile.

Jones then made his move to Pride Park permanent, scoring seven goals in 47 appearances before his switch to Wolves.

Derby boss Paul Jewell said: “David is a cracking lad and has done very well for this football club.’’

Jones becomes Wolves’ third signing of the summer following the arrivals of fellow rising stars Sam Vokes and Richard Stearman.
