David Jones impresses Karl Henry

WOLVES captain Karl Henry is delighted with his newly-formed midfield partnership with David Jones.

Former Manchester United trainee Jones arrived at Molineux in the summer after arriving for an undisclosed fee from Derby County.

Manager Mick McCarthy saw him as a valuable addition to his squad as a box-to-box midfielder who can break up opponents’ play but also contribute his share of goals.

Jones opened his tally with the first goal in Wolves’ 5-1 rout of Nottingham Forest two weeks ago. And he has impressed in all his early outings, alongside skipper Henry right at the heart of midfield operations.

The experienced Henry, himself highly impressive so far this term, is thoroughly enjoying life in there with his new colleague.

“David has made a very good start with us,” said Henry. “But I knew he was a good player having gone up against him many times. He is very good on the ball.

“He has got a lovely left foot and is a good passer of the ball who gets stuck in as well. It is early days but I feel we we have got a good understanding in there and I am really enjoying playing alongside him.

“He likes to get forward and his goal against Forest was top class.”
