Birmingham City v Wolves: Business as usual for Mick McCarthy

WOLVES boss Mick McCarthy insists this afternoon’s crunch derby clash with Blues in the FA Cup will be business as usual.

And while he accepts there is a certain magic to the FA Cup, he believes it is too early in the competition to be romanticising about it.

He said: “It is just another game for us. I think it is a bit too far away from the final of the cup to get too wrapped up in the magic of it but we are going out there to try to win it.”

All eyes are on the tie with Blues chasing Wolves for automatic promotion to the top flight and McCarthy says that battle certainly has a bearing on this match.

“Both teams are trying to get promoted and would a long cup run be a help or a hindrance? I don’t know but we both want to win,” he said.

“We are both competitors in the league and we have got a lot of fans behind us who are going to the game and expect us to win.”

Some 4,100 Wolves fans are travelling to St Andrew’s hoping to see their side go one better than the draw the sides produced in the league at Molineux recently.

McCarthy is playing his cards close to his chest regarding his team selection but hinted that squad players may get a shout.
