Wolves: Alan Shearer's my hero, says striker Sam Vokes

‘‘I watch his finishing and I pick up things from the experience he has over the years.
“The thing for me to do is to try to take that into games.”
Vokes’s admiration for Shearer may also stretch from the fact that both played on the south coast – Vokes at Bournemouth and the television pundit at Southampton.
But the young striker admits he really only knows about the player’s talent from television and DVDs.
He added: “The biggest influence for me as a striker was probably Alan Shearer.
‘‘I was a bit young to have watched him at Southampton, but I’ve seen him in the Premier League for years on TV and he was such as a massive striker.
“I try to pick things up from him but I also like to try and learn from all the strikers here, such as Sylvan (Ebanks-Blake).
‘‘You take bits and try to put them into your own game.”
Vokes scored in Wolves’ 2-0 victory over Blues in the FA Cup in midweek and hopes to have given his manager food for thought and booked himself a place in the side that play at Bristol Rovers this evening.
