McCarthy: Wolves fans will forgive Ebanks-Blake for penalty miss

WOLVES boss Mick McCarthy has confessed he is glad that it was his very own “Golden Boots”, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, who missed Saturday’s last-gasp penalty at the Ricoh Arena – because he feels the fans will forgive their favourite player.
Ebanks-Blake has found the back of the net 20 times so far this season but was unable to convert a stoppage-time spot-kick which would have given Wolves a point against Coventry City at the weekend.
The 22 year-old, the Championship’s Golden Boot winner last year with 23 goals, saw his shot saved by Keiren Westwood, leaving Wolves on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat.
Ebanks-Blake yesterday pulled out of Stuart Pearce’s England Under-21 squad for the trip to play Ecuador in a friendly because he has a sickness bug which has torn through the Molineux personnel in recent days.
But his club manager feels he should be back to fitness and form for the trip to Burnley in the league on Saturday.
