Mick McCarthy's rally cry to Wolves fans

MICK McCarthy has appealed to Wolves fans to stick with his team as they fight to keep their promotion bandwagon on track.

The Wolves boss believes the supporters will have a vital role to play as his side take on Cardiff City at Molineux on Sunday and then entertain Plymouth Argyle the following Saturday.

The Molineux crowd has displayed the same nerves as the players in recent weeks as Wolves’ promotion push has slowed with one win in their last nine games.

But McCarthy believes the supporters can help his young side rediscover their confidence on home soil.

He has admitted that some of his players have lost a little of their self belief in recent weeks but said there had been no reduction in their will to win or work rate.

“The supporters’ role is vital now because it’s certainly been a bit nervy and there is a bit of tension flying around,” he said.

“We all expect that, but we all want the same things – we all want success and we all want to be promoted.
