MICK McCarthy prepares his young guns for the trip to Nottingham Forest tomorrow insisting his side are the best team in the league – but reiterating they want to be the best after 46 games.
Wolves are within just seven matches of automatic promotion to the Premier League and McCarthy hopes his side can not only guarantee their passage to the top flight but go up crowned as champions.
He said: “We want to get promoted but of course we want to win the title.
“Having been where we are with seven games to play, if I said anything other than that everybody would think I was mad anyway.”
McCarthy has chosen to play his side’s position down for most of the season but even the players are now joining the fans in daring to dream promotion is now a real possibility.
He said: “It’s a bit late now to be dressing it up as anything else and avoiding the issue. Of course we want to win it. With seven games to go, we’re the best team in the league but we want to be the best team in the league after 46 games.
“We’re just concentrating on the next game now.
