Matt Hill's ready to climb summit with Wolves

WOLVES defender Matt Hill is keeping his fingers crossed that his side can win promotion this season to end his run of “always being the bridesmaid and never the bride!”
The former Preston North End star has missed out on promotion before but hopes Mick McCarthy’s side can achieve that dream this time around.
Hill fought his way back into the side recently with left-back Stephen Ward out injured and has now maintained his place through his performances.
He said: “I’m delighted to have come in and be involved in a team which has looked solid.
“It’s certainly not down to me that we’ve steadied the ship but maybe we’ve all formed a nice partnership and things are working well – long may it continue.”
Hill has had to bide his time for a chance in the Championship league-leading side but is just happy to have played a part.
“A lot of players here have had to wait for their chance and I am no different and I’d like to think I’ve taken that chance,” he said.
“It’s a squad game and I think it’s good the gaffer has got the opportunity to change things around sometimes because there’s lads like myself and George Friend who are hungry to play. The results we’ve had recently – they breed confidence – we kept going and always knew the team would score goals to win games.”
Hill added: “It’s been a case of always the bridesmaid and never the bride in terms of promotions in my career – it’s not happened for me yet!
