NEXT season he may well be marking the likes of Ronaldo and Rooney, Torres and Gerrard but for Wolves’ left-back Matt Hill the biggest prize in securing promotion to the top flight is that he will be able to watch himself on Match of the Day.
Hill is one of the more experienced players in manager Mick McCarthy’s side and has enjoyed a career which started at Bristol City and then saw him join Preston North End before signing for Wolves last September.
The 28-year-old twice reached the League Two play-off finals with The Robins and once from the Championship with Preston but has had to wait until now to win promotion with Wolves.
And while he did not feature in Saturday’s 1-0 victory, Hill has played more than his part this season.
Talking of finally achieving promotion, he said: “It is unbelievable. Before the chances have been there for me but the teams just have never quite been able to do it.
