Mick McCarthy: Wolves need to splash cash to be Premier force

MANAGER Mick McCarthy has given the first real indication he will be backed in the transfer market by chairman Steve Morgan as he attempts to make Wolves a sustainable Premier League force next season.
The Wolves boss insists if the club does not attract top-class players they will be unable to compete saying: “We’ve got to do it if we want to be a Premier League club.
“If we don’t it won’t be nice, it won’t be pretty.”
McCarthy’s side now need just one point from their remaining two games, away to Barnsley on Saturday and at home to Doncaster Rovers nine days later, to clinch Championship title.
The fact their future is already secure gives Wolves a head-start on their rivals in the search for new players.
But McCarthy is experienced enough to know top clubs won’t be looking to sell just yet while their own futures are still not determined.
