We’re not a ‘yo-yo’ team says Wolves boss Mick McCarthy

Mick McCarthy

MICK McCarthy has insisted his newly-promoted Wolves will not be a “yo-yo” club.

After finally securing promotion to the Premier League, he fully intends to keep the club there.

The manager guided Wolves to the top flight in only his third season at the helm and says he is now relishing the task of keeping them up.

Having won the Championship title and having led for much of the season, Wolves were long tipped to go up as champions but McCarthy knows they will also be among the favourites to go down after just one season this time next year.

McCarthy, who last tasted management at the top as Sunderland boss in 2003, said: “This is now my biggest challenge but only because it’s the next one.

“Everything else that has happened in my career has gone.

“It is a challenge because it’s the Premier League again and last time it didn’t go well for me for various circumstances.

“But we all want to be a success in the Premier League and that means staying up.”
