Wolves' Jez Moxey hails summer a success

“Once again we have fulfilled our mission statement for the summer without question.

“Generally there’s a real sense of satisfaction that we’ve delivered with what we’ve done.

“We’ve thrown a lot of money at it, but it bodes well hopefully for now and certainly for the future.”

Moxey admits a crystal ball would be handy to see how the new signings fare but believes his manager’s choices have been excellent.

“Whether it will be good enough, remains to be seen, but what we have done is get in the type of players we said we would, apart from the caveat of getting in the amount of Premier League experience,” he said. “But we’re absolutely satisfied with the players we’ve got and the way the team looks.”

Wolves, like many clubs, found it tough to get in the proven Premier League players it wanted but Moxey believes some experienced foreign stars may have proved the answer.

“We’ve gone down the foreign route for more experienced players and that’s partly because of availability more than anything,” he said.

“In all honesty we would look for Premier League experience, but we feel we’ve got that with Kevin Doyle and Marcus Hahnemann and we’ve brought in the experience of foreign leagues through Nenad Milijas, Ronald Zubar, Segundo Castillo and Stefan Maierhofer.”

He added: “Hopefully we won’t have to buy nine players in one such short space of time ever again – we’ve got a base in place now to progress.

“It’s been non-stop but we have done it with clarity and budget control and it has brought a real sense of satisfaction.”
