We'll go all to beat Sunderland, says Wolves' Dave Edwards

“The league’s the most important thing and if we can follow up with another win, it will really help us out.”

Former Shrewsbury and Luton midfielder Edwards says Wolves have confidence from their impressive first home win over the Cottagers.

“Sunderland is a winnable game and we’ve got to go there thinking that,” he said.

“It will be a hard game – everyone knows they’re a big, strong, physical team and, under Steve Bruce, they’re no pushovers.

“They’ve started alright but they’ll be trying to bounce back from their defeat against Burnley.

“It will be a tough game, but we’ve got to take the confidence from beating Fulham and we must have a positive attitude.”

McCarthy picked up his first home win as a Premiership manager at the 22nd attempt against Fulham.

Edwards added: “It was nice for him to get that monkey off his back.

“I’m sure he isn’t bothered by it or wasn’t thinking about it but he’s a very good manager and he’s got the lads working as a really tight unit.

“Everyone wants to win for each other and it’s a credit to him just how good the squad is and how much togetherness is out there.”
