Wolves: Berra defends derby referee
Oct 27 2009 by Bill Howell, Birmingham Mail
CHRISTOPHE Berra has backed under-fire derby referee Peter Walton after his decision not to hand Wolves an early penalty.
Kevin Doyle appeared to be fouled in the area by Richard Dunne but just as has been the case with recent much-publicised incidents against Sunderland and Portsmouth, Wolves got not joy.
But despite clearly not getting the rub of the green from referees, Berra is not complaining and has sympathy for the officials.
“It’s hard for me to tell because I was further down the pitch, but Doyle thought it was a penalty,” he said.
“I’d hate to be a ref because all the decisions you have to make are very hard.”
