McCarthy vows Wolves will go on attack at Chelsea

MICK McCarthy has promised another ‘up and at ’em’ approach from his Wolves side at Chelsea today.

That is despite an overwhelming weight of history and statistics that suggests a more conservative approach might be better.

“We will try to be positive whoever we play,” the Wolves boss said.

“I can’t see any point in not being positive, because we were fine against Arsenal for 28 minutes until we gave a free-kick away which led to the corner they scored from, which was very un-Arsenal-like.

“Then they settled and picked us apart. We got beat 4-1 but had some really good chances in the game.”

McCarthy is in no doubt that on current form the league title is heading to Stamford Bridge.

“I think Arsenal are the best footballing team in the league but I think Chelsea are the best team in the league,” he said. “That’s a nice two games in a row to have.”

McCarthy says his side will not shrink into their shells despite the heavy loss to Arsenal and the fact that Chelsea have the best defence in the Premier League.

“We had such a good start against Arsenal. For 28 minutes we went toe-to-toe with them.

“Of course a game is about 90 minutes and we could have got a real ‘do-ing’, but instead we had a real go at them and I’d prefer to take the positives out of it, in that we can play.”
