Birmingham city boss Alex McLeish insists there's no edge to Wolves clash

ALEX McLeish has insisted that Blues’ rivalry with Wolves last season didn’t add any extra edge to tomorrow’s clash.
Blues were left trailing Championship winners Wolves as runners-up, but drew at Molineux and won at St Andrew’s despite Lee Carsley’s sending-off.
Wolves were perceived to be easier on the eye than Blues, but McLeish said it was unfair to say they were a better footballing team.
“Maybe they had better legs than us last season,” he said. “I wouldn’t say they were a better footballing side. They played it in a straightforward way, 4-4-2, getting great support, and it worked for them.
“We got the job done and got promoted. This season we have put a different slant on things with players who can take the ball, the quality that has been added to enhance us as a footballing side.
“The main objective last season by hook or by crook was to get back to the PL. I wasn’t not bothered about not winning the title.
“We took four points out of six against them, and at St Andrew’s were quite clearly the better side on the night. But there is nothing to learn in terms of the head to heads.
“Now it’s a different era, a different team with a different style this season and I believe the fans should be happy, and are happy, with the performance level,” he added.
“We didn’t play great football last season but were effective.”
