Mick McCarthy hails new star at Wolves
Serbian midfielder Nenad Milijas, a summer signing from Red Star Belgrade, could play every week if he maintains the form he displayed in Wolves victory over Bolton yesterday.
That's the promise from Mick McCarthy, delighted at a first win in nine for his team.
Milijas stole the show at Molineux on Saturday as he scored the decisive second goal in the promoted club's vital 2-1 win over the Trotters.
The Serbian midfielder was instrumental in Wolves' engine room, providing pinpoint deliveries from set-pieces, including the free-kick that captain Jody Craddock scored from in the third minute.
It paved the way for their first win in nine games and came on the back of a disappointing defeat by Birmingham.
McCarthy said: "Nenad did not settle straight away. The Premier League is a bit of a harsh playground.
"I expected what I thought I was buying. He coped with what was a physical game today; he didn't when he first came.
"If he plays like that every week he will be in the team. If he doesn't, the rubber will come out.
"You need that class as well. You cannot run around for 90 minutes just huffing and puffing. His deliveries from corner kicks and free-kicks were sensational.
"It was a fabulous response to being beaten at home by Birmingham. It was essential we did that despite being embroiled in a scrap at the end.
"Our first goal was offside but I think we deserve a bit of luck. A decision went our way and not there's. I am the beneficiary of it."
