Wolves: Jody Craddock signs new one year deal
JODY Craddock has signed a new one-year contract and hopes it silences his critics.
“It’s another year for me at Wolves which is fantastic,” the 34-year-old said.
“A couple of years ago I might have been dropping down the leagues but I’m still at Wolves, we’re still in the Premier League and I couldn’t have asked for anything better for my career.
“I’m proud of what I’ve achieved in my career here and hopefully there is more to come.
“It’s good to get it done and dusted early in the summer.
“I was very pleased with last season. I wouldn’t say it wasn’t a problem because it was tough and I had to work very hard to maintain my standards. Hopefully I’ve proved a few people wrong and proved something to myself as well.”
Craddock does not expect an easy ride next season.
“It will be just as tough, if not tougher,” he said.
“It is an advantage that we know what it’s all about and we know how difficult it is.
“We’re not going into games and be suddenly shocked at how good teams are. We know how good they are and how high our performance levels will have to be to get results.”
Manager Mick McCarthy added: “Jody had a terrific season and fully deserves his new contract.
“I’ve said all along that he’s one of those defenders that does exactly what it says on the tin. Above that he’s also a top professional in the way he handles himself both on and off the pitch.
“He’s very well thought of by everyone and to be going into his eighth year at Wolves is a great achievement. He’ll know, as we all do, there is probably an even bigger challenge ahead next season, but there’s no doubt Jody will be doing everything he can to try and play just as big a part again.”
