Wolves: Matt Jarvis is relishing England chance

MATT Jarvis says his rags-to-riches career has been a ‘roller-coaster’ ride that he hopes can help inspire Wolves to beat the drop.

From being discarded as a teenager at Millwall, experiencing relegation with Gillingham to becoming a Premier League regular and getting an England call for Saturday’s Euro qualifier against Wales, Jarvis has experienced so much in such a short time.

“It’s been a roller-coaster ride and obviously I am delighted with how I’ve done it,” he said.

“From going up with Gillingham, winning promotion with Wolves – which was a fantastic achievement – then staying up and this year hoping to do the same.

“Hopefully this shows you don’t have to play for one of the so-called bigger clubs and other people can do the same.

‘‘My message? Work hard and aim high.”

Jarvis says his call-up can also inspire Wolves to stay up.

“I think we can pull away now,’’ he added.

‘‘I think we have been playing well for the last few months, we’ve just maybe not got the right results.

“Hopefully we can turn it around and I’ll be full of confidence after this and everyone can draw off that.”
