Wolves: Jarvis not for sale, warns McCarthy

Matt Jarvis

MICK McCarthy has issued a firm hands-off to Liverpool over in-demand winger Matt Jarvis and insisted Wolves do not have to sell their stars.

It follows a weekend of stories that hinted Jarvis would leave if Wolves were relegated.

McCarthy has clarified his comments and alluded that only crazy offers would be considered.

“I thought the stories at the weekend were rubbish after what I’d said but it didn’t surprise me,” McCarthy said.

“There’s no reason why we would want to sell anybody and there’s no necessity why we would have to sell anybody.

“But me being honest and saying there are certain things that happen in the game . . . you can’t stop it.

‘‘Chelsea came in and offered £50 million and £200,000 a week and Torres wasn’t staying any more (at Liverpool), he wanted to go and live in London.

‘‘And Andy Carroll: £35 million and whatever he’s on. He is not stopping despite everybody’s protestations that it is somebody else’s fault.

“I wish they’d just say ‘by the way this is too good to turn down’.
