Wolves: Kevin Doyle losing race for fitness

KEVIN Doyle has conceded that he is struggling to recover in time to be fit for Wolves’ remaining games of the season.

The striker suffered a knee injury during the recent international break.

It was hoped that his knee would heal within four weeks, enabling him to be fit from the end of this month.

But Doyle has conceded that he is still struggling.

“It’s not going to be the four weeks, that’s pretty certain,” he said.

“It’s the same, there’s no change – it’s going to be another good few weeks.

“I’m aiming to come back before the end of the season but it’s going to be close.

“I’m hoping I won’t be needed. I can’t try any harder. I’m doing everything anyway.

“It’s going to take however long it takes.

“There’s no point trying to come back early and getting injured again.

“Hopefully in the next couple of games we can get a couple of wins.”

Meanwhile, Karl Henry believes Wolves must buck up their ideas or face relegation from the Premier League.

The Molineux skipper did not mince his words following the 3-0 defeat by Everton, a performance he claims was not even of Championship-standard, let alone one required for the top-flight.

Henry believes 10 more points are needed for Mick McCarthy’s men to be sure of survival.

“At times I think we were amateurish,” said Henry.
