Wolves: Jody Craddock on the incentive against Stoke

Jody Craddock

JODY Craddock says Wolves go chasing a big carrot at Stoke – knowing a point will take them clear of the drop zone.

The recalled centre-back scored both goals in a 2-2 draw at the Britannia Stadium last season and says Wolves head to the Potteries tonight without nerves.

Craddock, said: “We know they’re a big, strong side and we are going to have to defend well. They are also a very good team with a lot of quality and Tony Pulis has done a very good job there.

“They’ve brought in some quality players who can play football, as they showed in the way they beat Bolton in the FA Cup semi-final.

“It will be a tough game but one we are ready for and will be looking forward to.

“There is still a very positive atmosphere about the place. We are down the bottom end but there is no negativity and no nervousness as quite often occurs at clubs in these situations.

“We are still very confident and have the belief that we can get out of the bottom three and will be doing everything in our power to achieve it.”

Craddock made his first start in six months against Fulham at the weekend.

“It’s been a while although it doesn’t feel that long because I have been back fit again for a while,” he said.

“It was nice to be back in and it didn’t feel too alien to me. It felt good and now I’ve got another taste of it I want to play some more.

“I played a few reserve games which, while not the same as the first team, does help. I’ve also worked hard in training, like everyone does, to be ready and available to take a chance when it comes.

“I can’t have any complaints about being out because I thought Christophe and ‘Stears’ have been fantastic.

“It’s never a problem with me to wait for my chance if people are playing well – but when the opportunity comes it’s about me doing what I can to hang onto my place.”
