Wolves: Kevin Doyle reveals why he thinks Wolves will stay up

Kevin Doyle

KEVIN Doyle has heaped praise on the dynamic striking twosome who terrorised Albion’s defence in Sunday’s Black Country derby.

Stephen Ward and Steven Fletcher have helped Wolves to four points from two derbies after being pitted together for the first time at Blues.

“The team did really well against West Bromwich Albion, particularly the two lads up front,” Doyle said.

“Wardy did what Wardy always does and worked really hard and did well for the team.

“When you play two up front you have to work extra hard and one of you has to drop back in and Wardy did that job.

“He also showed a fantastic bit of skill near the end and it would have been nice if he’d scored because he certainly deserved it.”

Fletcher made it nine goals in 13 league starts with his brace against the Baggies.

Doyle continued: “Fletch was class as well.

“It’s just worked out that we’ve played one up front and I’ve done that role but we all know how good a player Fletch is.

“We’re playing two up front now and he’s showing the quality which we know he’s got.

“I’m sure he’s delighted to be getting games now and getting in amongst the goals before the end of the season.

“He looked really good at the start of the season until he got injured and I’m sure he’s been keen to remind people what he can do.

“He’s been excellent over the last few games and has certainly shown his class.”

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is in line for a recall at Sunderland on Saturday after recovering from a hamstring injury.
