MICK McCarthy said he was delighted to have ended Wolves’ Villa Park hoodoo last season – but insisted last term’s result would have no bearing on tomorrow’s outcome.
In March, Wolves ended a 31-year wait to see off Villa on home soil courtesy of a fine Matt Jarvis strike.
And, although McCarthy said he was pleased the unwanted run had finally come to an end, he warned tomorrow’s game would be a different affair.
“Looking back on last year it was a top performance, one of our best, and it was great to get the win,” he said.
“But it’s different now, they’ve got a different manager, different players and it’s a new season. It will have no bearing on it whatsoever.
“Villa away is always a tough place to play, but we’re feeling good. We’ve deserved to win the games we’ve played this season so we’ll keep on going against Villa.”
