DAVE Edwards is ready to end his six-month injury hell.
The Wales midfielder is fully fit after undergoing a back operation in February.
“It’s been a hard six months because there were times when I thought I was nearly fit and there were others when I felt a million miles away,” he said.
“It’s nice to hopefully come through the other side but now I’ve got to work extra hard to keep myself fit and avoid future problems.
“It’s been a frustrating time, especially the two or three times I thought I was close and then had another setback.”
Edwards played 78 minutes of the reserves’ draw with Newcastle on Tuesday.
“I wasn’t fatiguing or anything but I think it was wise not to take any risks and for me to get that amount of time was brilliant,” he said.
“To come through it and feel fit with my lungs was great and I just need to find that sharpness which comes with more training and more games.
‘‘There are a few more reserve games coming up and with some more training hopefully I can get back to being around the first-team picture again.
“You can never really set targets. At the start I was going to be out for a month, then it was three weeks and then a couple more weeks but it just got delayed.
