Wolves: Mick McCarthy on the key to staying up

MICK McCarthy remains convinced Wolves will be safe again this season but admits the test will come in bouncing back when they hit another bad run.

Wolves head to Everton on Saturday buoyant after their first win in nine league games.

It is another season where the unfancied sides like Norwich and Swansea have got off to a flyer but McCarthy said: “That doesn’t bother me. I know we will win enough games. We will be fine. I never think about anybody else and I can’t affect other people.

‘‘It is when we have lost those five or six on the bounce and we’ve got to go to Everton and Chelsea.

‘‘Will it happen again? Will we be able to win two or three on the bounce when we get fixtures where we can do it?’’

McCarthy is not getting carried away by the win over Wigan. He says luck plays a huge part for clubs, citing Hugo Rodallega’s missed chance.

“You know what, it was our day, wasn’t it?’’ he said.
