Wolves: 'As long as I have a hole in my bum that wasn't a red card' - Mick McCarthy

MICK McCarthy admitted that he feared the worst when Nenad Milijas was sent off and insisted that he will be having words with referee Stuart Attwell.

The Serbian was wrongly given a straight red card for a challenge on Mikel Arteta in the 75th minute leaving Wolves a man short late in the game.

Arsenal bombarded the Wolves goal but despite the numerical disadvantage the visitors held on for a point.

McCarthy was seething at the time of his dismissal, which Wolves will appeal, but his mood was calmed by the fact that his side still managed to salvage a draw.

He said he would still be speaking with the referee though about the controversial decision.

Responding to whether he thought it was a sending off, McCarthy said: “Not while I’ve got a hole in my bum.

“I will go and ask Stuart.

“He did what he saw but if he sees it again – what I’ve saw on the TV – then he’ll know that it can’t be one.

“He’s got his foot on the ground, makes contact with the ball and I don’t think he leaves the ground.

“Someone said to me that his studs were up. Well, you generally do when you tackle with your foot, sliding in.
