Wolves: Striker seeks permanent move away from Molineux

Leigh Griffiths

LEIGH Griffiths wants to sign a permanent deal with Hibernian after Mick McCarthy told him he is no longer needed at Wolves.

The 21-year-old striker joined Wolves from Dundee in January but was unable to force his way into the first team.

Griffiths was recently shipped out on loan to Hibs where he has impressed and now the young Scot is hoping to earn himself a permanent contract.

“If Wolves and Hibs were able to strike a deal I’d be absolutely delighted,” he said.

“It’s out of my hands whether Hibs want to extend my loan or make it permanent but I’m loving every minute here.

“Wolves want to sell me so if I have to go back there I’m just going to have to bide my time.

“Going from the First Division with Dundee to the English Premiership is a massive step, and I knew I wasn’t going down there to be anywhere near the first team straight away.

“It never happened the first few months but I’ve scored a few goals since I came back up here on loan.

“Then I got the phone call last Tuesday.
