Solihull Council to announce local council election results on Twitter

BOROUGH election coverage will be ‘tweeted’ for the first time in May with Solihull Council set to use its twitter feed to keep people up to date with latest results from the count.

The Council’s online coverage will start around lunchtime on Friday May 7 – the day after residents go to the polls – and will broadcast the latest developments from the count, which takes place at the North Solihull Sports Centre.

Results will be announced from each of the Council’s 17 electoral wards and general coverage of the count in real-time will also be available to followers.

Mark Rogers, the Council’s Chief Executive, said: “I’m really pleased to say that we will be tweeting our election results in Solihull this year, as it gives our residents a different way of getting involved with local democracy.

“Our twitter feed was incredibly useful during the recent severe winter weather as it allowed us to get important messages out to residents and also let us engage with them.

“I hope our election coverage will prove just as useful to our followers. If you’re not following us already, I would highly recommend you do so!”
