The jewel in the city’s style crown

IT’S the event that will put Birmingham firmly on the fashion map.
Style In The City will feature catwalk shows and celebrity style-overs from TV’s Gok Wan.
But it won’t all be about clothes and make-up.
The Jewellery Quarter will be having its own stand in the Style in the City ‘Jewel Room’. It will feature demonstrations, valuations, competitions and, of course, a range of jewellery to buy.
It will showcase some of the top designer makers and jewellery craftsmen and women in the Quarter, which still makes an estimated 40 per cent of UK jewellery. It is not surprising that the area has over 100 retail outlets with a vast range of jewellery to enjoy.
And the jewellers have welcomed the opportunity to exhibit at the event.
David Hendley, creative director at Artful Expression, said: “Whilst the Jewellery Quarter is the place where couples head to when choosing engagement or wedding rings, we don’t seem to have a lot of shoppers who are into their fashion. They tend to stick with the Bullring, or other high street stores.
“But we have a lot of modern and unique pieces to offer. The Style In The City event is a great way for those shoppers to see what we do.”
Anna Gibson, Jewellery Quarter marketing initiative manager, told the Birmingham Mail: “As part of the exceptional retail experience that the city has to offer the Jewellery Quarter will once again be exhibiting a selection of the very best in jewellery craftsmanship and design.
“For the third year running the marketing initiative has been delighted in playing its part in supporting the city centre in showcasing the Jewellery Quarter – a unique part of Birmingham. With 40 per cent of all UK jewellery made in the Jewellery Quarter, Style In The City really gives us an opportunity to highlight the significance of the area.”
Style in the City is from September 24-26.
