Win a year's cinema pass and a digital camera with The National Lottery

The National Lottery

WHAT has The National Lottery ever done for the Midlands?

Birmingham’s Millennium Point and Rumbles Catering Project have more than just location in common - they’ve both received funding from The National Lottery, and are part of the thousands of projects across the Midlands which together have been awarded more than £114 million in the last year alone! (1.)

While you may be familiar with some of the high-profile projects that have received funding in the Midlands, like the National Space Centre in Leicester or Coventry’s Phoenix Initiative, you may not know about the other local Good Causes in your community. There’s likely to be a project just around the corner from where you live...

This week try and spot one of our giant Lottery balls which have been placed at projects like these all over the Midlands, so you can see where Lottery funding is going in your community!

In the Midlands, funding for Birmingham’s Millennium Point has helped support six years of science, technology and learning, while a Lottery grant for Rumbles Catering Project in Mansfield means that people with learning difficulties can train for catering qualifications in a supportive but realistic working environment.

Did you know that 28 pence from every pound you spend on the Lottery goes towards grants for projects like these, and thousands of other Good Causes across the UK? Over half of which are under £5,000, helping small projects make a big difference to people’s lives. Since The National Lottery began in 1994, over £20 billion has been raised for Good Causes in the UK – that’s £25 million a week.
