Saint Augustine's success is holy deserved

ST AUGUSTINE'S Catholic High School in Redditch was among Worcestershire's more impressive performers.

It is ranked in the top 100 schools in England based on a value added measure which charts the progress that pupils make between the ages of 11 and 16.

Principal Yvonne Brennan said of the results: "We are delighted to have our achievements celebrated, but would also like our wider successes recognised."

Also featuring prominently in the national A-Level tables is independent girls school, Holy Trinity, in Kidderminster, which is in the top 100 schools nationally with an average points score per candidate of 1026.

But Arrow Vale Community High School in Redditch is placed 35th bottom of a national truancy table with 5.9 per cent of half days missed due to unauthorised absence, compared to the county-wide average of 1.4 per cent.
