An opportunity to see a working environment

Arti Halai

THE Aspire workshops have been arranged by Arti in conjunction with the UK Career Academy Foundation, a registered charity which aims to foster partnerships between schools and business.

Working with 16 to 19-year-olds, the Career Academy has links with a number of local schools including Shelfield College in Walsall, Heath Park Business and Enterprise College in Wolverhampton and Bournville Sixth Form College, City College and Grace College in Birmingham.

Introducing the students to different environments and professionals gives them a more rounded education, says head of business studies and Career Academy co-ordinator at Shelfield College Louise Bradley.

"It is an opportunity for them to see a working environment and to hear from someone other than their teachers," she says.

"It is useful for them to go into a range of industries to see the different opportunities that exist.

"Arti has been speaking to them about inspirational people and about the importance of having role models and of working towards something and those kind of messages are useful for all of the students."
