Education: Schools Awards' excellent entries
The Birmingham Mail, in association with The Pallasades Shopping Centre, has been delighted to receive so many excellent entries and nominations for our second Schools Awards campaign.
The awards cover both community and curriculum-based projects, as well as individual excellence, and honour whole schools, classes and individuals.
We would like to thank all schools and individuals for the fabulous entries and nominations that you made – it has been an excellent response.

Please note, there are still grants to be awarded in this category so we are still accepting entries from schools for this. Details of the Barclays Money Skills award are as follows:
This is a new award for 2009 and one which we feel has huge relevance to schoolchildren and their families across our region, particularly during the tough financial times that the country is now facing.
The Birmingham Mail and Barclays are searching for schools that are developing programmes/activities specifically designed to help children understand the importance of budgeting and managing finances. This may be built into the curriculum through mathematics or personal, health and social education or it may be a club/extra curricular group run by students that is financially managed by its members.
Barclays are still offering two cash prizes of £500 each, for the schools that can demonstrate new and innovative ways in which they are helping or plan to help children and-or parents to develop money skills. The winning schools will receive a grant to use to extend or introduce their financial learning in the school under the theme of Barclays Money Skills.
