I can't explain what happened to me during the laying on of hands
WHEN Katheryn Knight began experiencing excruciating head-aches and visual disturbances she did what most of us would do and went to her doctor. But in the event, healing came from elsewhere. "I hadn't discussed the pain with Nick or anyone," says the 44-year-old full time mum. "But when I came to church Nick said to me that he could tell I wasn't well and asked if I wanted to try healing. "When he put his hands on my head I felt the pain physically shift in my head. It was very painful and it took a couple of times but then it went and my eyes were fine again."
Church-goer Katheryn of Shenley Green admits it is hard to comprehend. "I can't verify it medically because the doctor had not found anything wrong at that point," she says. "I had been booked in for an EG scan which I still went for just to check. They said it was clear and the pain never came back.
"I can't explain it but then I take pills for things and I can't explain how they work either. All I know is that I had intense pain and then I didn't."
Fellow church-goer Jean Jones of Bournville also experienced the healing."My arm had become all swollen," recalls 72-year-old Jean. "I had tried so many things that weren't working so I thought I would try this. The first time I felt warmth and tingling and I did also feel comforted. I came to Nick about four or five times and it gradually went down."
And Nick was able to suggest that Jean had another problem. "He also did my back and he said there was something wrong," she says. "I went to the doctor and then the hospital and they found I had three little gall stones."
Retired carer and church-goer Hilda Walls, aged 80, has experienced pain relief as a result of healing sessions. "I had back and neck trouble but Nick put his hands on my chest and back and I suddenly felt better. And he said he could feel heat on my chest so I went to the doctor and he told me I had bronchitis. I also get spondylitis so I come here because of the pain from that. I don't take any medication for it, I just come here on a Thursday. And the doctor told me if he looked as good as me at 80 he wouldn't mind."
Closer to home Nick has also offered healing to his wife Ellie who is terminally ill with bone cancer. Forty-five-year-old Ellie had suffered breast cancer in the past and in 2004 she was told it had spread to her bones and lungs.
"They told me it was terminal and I would only live about three months," she says.
"They did a scan and saw little tumours on my lungs. But after experiencing healing I had another scan and the tumours on the lungs had disappeared. The oncologist said he could not explain it." Sadly, Ellie's bone cancer has remained but she continues to experience healing for pain relief. "They told me three months and that was four years ago," she says. "I am still terminally ill but the healing helps with the pain - and I am still here."
