THESE takeaway chips were not just any old chips – they were M&S ‘chunky’ chips, dished up in the newish, basement burger bar.
I think I’d rather work down a coalmine than in the lower ground food hall, where the black floor and stark, energy-sapping lighting turns the average punter into a zombie who’s doomed to roam the aisles at length in search of moved items.
After a five-minute wait, the chips were very soft and didn’t taste quite right, a bit like veg if your steamer boils dry.
And, at £1.46 for a cone which weighed 225g on my in-car scales, they’re not cheap, either.
