Cheap As Chips: Catchems End in Bewdley

**** *

Catchems End

MY cheerful server seemed surprised when I asked him if this chippy on the busy A456 was named after the area.

But he then came up with an even better explanation.

It was, he said, the start of the point where the fleeing crooks of old might have felt safe from Bewdley’s long arm of the law.

His late-evening chips, £1.10 for a cone weighing 425g on my in-car scales, were a steal.

Piping hot and of a lovely texture, on this form they’d be well worth nabbing.

Look out for the shop on the left just after you’ve passed the Safari Park entrance. It’s not obvious in the dark, but there’s a rear car park, too.
