Millfield Chippy, Hydes Road, West Bromwich
THIS IS the first fan-shaped chip shop I have ever been in – it is wider at the front than at the back.
Packed with hungry schoolchildren at lunchtime, it has a couple of walls outside which they naturally like to jump off, much to my friendly server’s concern.
But at least the hilly aspect is appropriate for the shop’s black-and-white photograph of one of San Francisco’s steeper streets.
My chips were hot and good value at 90p for a cone which weighed 425g on my in-car scales.
They were also a touch too dry compared with my five-star champions of the past four weeks.
